Faster than a P1 GTR around Anglesey, the 2.5l, Cosworth-fettled, Duratec-engined BAC Mono revs to 8,000rpm and delivers 305bhp. With a dry weight of just 540kg, this returns a Veyron-matching power to weight ratio of 525hp/ton! Founded by brothers Neill and Ian Briggs in 2009, BAC launched the Mono in 2011. A single seated, centred driving position helps deliver the most focussed driving experience possible. Initially powered by a 2.3 litre engine and a six speed sequential gearbox, at its launch the Mono immediately bested the Ariel Atom V8 and Mclaren MP4-12C, second only to the Pagani Huayra as the record-holder at the Top Gear test track.
In 2015, the engine was upgraded making the car capable of a 0-60 run of just 2.7 seconds and capable of 170mph flat out. Built solely with the intention of going as fast as possible with as little weight as possible, everything is considered. Optioned on our car, the £12,000 Carbon-Fibre ‘Dymag’ wheels, saving 2.5kg on each corner. Also specified are the £12,000 Carbon brakes, saving a further 20kg!
Our 2017 example is chassis 069 and is therefore one of the later specification cars that boast a host of improvements and refinements including it being powered by the later 2.5litre unit. It is finished in Ferrari Abu Dhabi Blue with a Yellow Highlight line. Additional improvements as a result of it being a recent car see this car fitted with the electronic handbrake, improved dampers and the upgraded slightly wider chassis. The interior, Charcoal weatherproof Alcantara with complementing Yellow stitching and black five-point harnesses. The lower half of the car is optioned in satin Carbon Fibre too.
Available to view at our showrooms just outside London immediately, this stunning example is on the button and has covered just 600 miles from new and has as yet not seen any track action.
