82hp, 201 cu. in. inline six-cylinder engine, three-speed sliding gear manual transmission, independent front suspension, Hypoid semi-floating axles with a Hotchkiss rear drive, four-wheel hydraulic brakes. Wheelbase: 114"

In 1939, while Chrysler and Dodge featured new bodywork, Plymouth cleverly disguised styling that was introduced in 1937 to the point where most people believed it, too, was all-new.

The front fenders were reshaped and incorporated rectangular bezel headlamps. Further styling revisions included a prow-shaped hood and grille, chrome trimmed, flared-in rear tail lamps, a new cowling and a split- vee, two-piece windscreen. Overall, Plymouth ĺ s new look incorporated all of the best and latest industry styling cues for 1939.

Mechanically, the 1939 Plymouth changed little except for the return of the fully independent front suspension first introduced in 1934 and subsequently dropped in 1935. All Roadkings came equipped with a three-speed floor mounted manual transmission.

The concours restored 1939 Plymouth P7 Roadking pictured here is finished in an exquisite Verde Green color with a lighter green pinstriped beltline and wheels. The original 201 cubic inch inline flathead six-cylinder engine has been completely rebuilt and fully detailed.

The exterior paintwork shows minimal wear, as does the powder coated undercarriage. The restored interior features tan mohair cloth and the factory fitted radio and speaker. Note also, the beautiful wood grain painted dash highlighted by the rebuilt period gauges, controls and fine chrome trim. All the chrome and brightwork both inside and out remain in show condition. Other features include full documentation by the Chrysler Historical Society, a copy of the original build card, the original lace weather stripping, and a complete set of tools in the trunk.

Desirable options abound on this P7 five-window coupe, with Plymouth emblem hubcaps and wide whitewall tires, grille and bumper guards, antenna, an outside rearview mirror, twin fog lamps and a chrome exhaust tip.

This all-steel original Plymouth P7 Roadking coupe is a stunning example and ready for show or vintage cruising. Although the Roadking line was Plymouth ĺ s price leader, only a few are known to have survived, making the future proprietor of this Roadking a King of the Road.
