Known History

Not perhaps H&H's usual fare, this Honda is being sold to raise money for The Cae Dai Trust, based in Denbigh, Wales, which offers much needed help to those with mental health issues.

The first generation Accord, made from 1976 until 1981, is a three-door hatchback, made at Honda's Sayama plant in Japan. It was the first Japanese small car with features such as cloth seats, a tachometer, intermittent wipers, and an AM/FM radio as standard equipment. Powered by a 1599cc four-cylinder engine providing 68bhp, this one is coupled to Honda's two-speed automatic (the three-speeder appearing in 1980).

First registered on September 21st 1978, this first-generation Accord (Honda is now up to the eighth) has covered a warranted 20,000 miles from new - the original spare tyre is still unused, though it rides on four new ones. The vendor says: "The interior is fantastic and reflects the small amount of use it has had over the last thirty-one years. The body is solid and there are no signs of rot. Some of the brightwork requires refurbishment but a keen enthusiast would find this a great car to upgrade at little cost to a show car condition".

This must be one of only very few first-generation Accord automatics remaining in good, usable condition in the UK and available for sale. Low mileage and Honda's legendary reliability should ensure that it continues to provide service for years to come. Please give generously.
