270bhp, 312 cu. in. overhead valve V8 engine, dual four-barrel carburetors, Ford-O-Matic transmission, independent front suspension with coil springs, live axle rear suspension with leaf springs and four-wheel
brakes. Wheelbase: 102"

In 1957, Ford offered naturally aspirated Thunderbird V8s in four horsepower ratings, ranging from 212
285bhp. The most rare and desirable of these is the 285bhp "dual quad" engine as fitted to the example
here. Known as the "E-Birds ” , after their ‘ E ’ engine code, these cars offered more horsepower than any
small block V8, beating even Chevrolet ’ s fuel injected 283, albeit by only two horsepower.

The very rare E-Bird offered here was built in 1957 and is finished in white with a white interior set off by
black top and carpeting. The car was treated to a meticulous restoration of the highest standards before
a show career that earned it an impressive collection of AACA 1st Place Junior and Senior awards as well
honors from the Classic Thunderbird Club International at two events. Equipped with power steering, power brakes and a Ford-O-Matic transmission, the E-Bird is a very easy car to drive and enjoy. The Thunderbird
with the original build sheet and manuals as well as a host of original options which include a Dialamatic
signal seeking radio, an engine dress up kit, and the heater/defroster. Needless to say that today, the 1957 Thunderbird ‘ E-Code ’ is in exceptional condition both in terms of quality of restoration and accuracy.

Undoubtedly, this is one of the most rare examples of its kind and one of the few Thunderbirds that may sincerely be considered a true American sports car. Considering its performance, rarity, and outstanding restoration, any discerning collector would be remiss to not consider this fine example.
