In 1937, Cadillac styling was completely refreshed. A new, broader, die-cast “ egg crate ” grille was fitted. This styling cue would become a standard feature on Cadillac models for years to come. Two sets of three small horizontal chrome trim pieces placed in the catwalk area between the fenders and the grille added emphasis to the Cadillac ’ s wider stance. As well, there were newly styled, large bullet-shaped front fenders that provided a sophisticated yet aggressive look.

The Cadillac 75-Series for 1937 offered buyers eleven body styles from Fleetwood. A V-emblem indicating the number of cylinders under the long hood was mounted on the upper right-hand side of the egg crate grille.

The Series 75 Cadillac Town Car was a top-of-the-line model selling for a base price of $5,245 in the fall of 1936. This fine example was fitted with the Basic Group “ X ” Equipment option (Extra tire, tube and air cleaner), as well as dual sidemounts with metal tire covers, four chrome wheel discs, flexible steering wheel, license plate frames and a folding trunk rack. An intercom system was also fitted to communicate information to the chauffeur.

This magnificent Cadillac was delivered on December 16, 1936 by Don Lee Cadillac in Los Angeles, California as a Christmas gift to W. K. Wilinson. Records indicate this was the tenth Cadillac Fleetwood Town Car built out of a possible three hundred in total in 1937. No other 1937 Cadillac Fleetwood Town Car is currently listed in the Cadillac-LaSalle membership directory, making this beautifully restored example possibly the only survivor.

Fully restored just five short years ago, this Cadillac remains in excellent condition throughout. It was re-painted in its original stately black color, while the complementing tan and grey cloth interior was carefully refitted in original cloths and to original specifications. The dual sidemounts and chrome wheel discs were repainted according to factory documentation in their original black, Clearwater Green, and Flare Red colors and are mounted with wide whitewall tires.

With the ability to accelerate in high gear from 5mph and cruise all day at highway speeds, this very dignified Cadillac Fleetwood Town Car is easy to drive and perfect for attending classic car events, or for just stepping out for an elegant night on the town.
