A lovely, clean and sound example of a rare, desirable and well-constructed car, the 405 being the only Bristol model with four doors, just 265 of which were built in total. Nicely finished in British Racing Green with Ivory interior, which suits the car well. In 1990, the car underwent a restoration at Bristol Motors themselves, including bodywork renovation, a complete re-paint and full re-upholstery in Connolly leather, and considerable attention besides, confirmed by documentation from Bristol and documented in the file of paperwork, which also includes considerable recent maintenance and repair invoices. This consisted of expenditure of approximately ú11,000 on a new clutch, re-cored radiator, attention to brakes and much more besides, all of this taking place in 2017, with only a couple of hundred miles or so covered since. Appealingly different, slightly quirky in design, with fins to the rear wings, wraparound rear screen, 'batwing' steering wheel and various other novel touches. Running and driving well following the above mentioned work. Stands out from the crowd in a tasteful and dignified way.

Snippets: Famous Bristol Owners.

We have just heard from a gentleman who, with his brother, purchased this Bristol in the 1970s for ú400; as we understand it the car had been standing for some 10years and was in need of some refurbishing which Jack and his brother did over the next couple of years. The car at that time was in its original blue and the bubbling paintwork was stripped off and the car repainted in Connaught Green; after their work the two brothers travelled Scotland on an extended tour covering several 1000s miles and saved money by sleeping in the car! The brothers sold the Bristol 405 in the 1980s to Bristol Cars of Kensington who following a restoration & a repaint sold the car in 1990 to a Mr. Green of Spalding. The Bristol Marque itself has had many famous owners, from the film industry we have Betty Box film producer (Doctor series & the Huggetts); actors Peter Sellers & his wife Britt Ekland plus Stewart Grainger & his wife Jean Simmons. Musicians include Tina Turner, Bono, Liam Gallagher, Bob Geldof & Geoffrey Burgon (composer of music scores including Life of Brian & Brideshead Revisited). Businessmen include the designer Sir Paul Smith and Sir Richard Branson, an American President Mr. Jimmy Carter and of course royalty with Prince Varnand Dhavah Chudadhu of Thailand.
