$181,500 Sold

258bhp, 368 cu. in. V8 engine with four-barrel carburetor, Turbo-Drive automatic transmission, independent front suspension with coil springs, live axle rear suspension with leaf springs, four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 126"

Playing with the big dogs in the mid-1950s required an abundance of gadgetry and the all new 1956 Lincoln Premiere did not disappoint, making such features as power steering, brakes, windows and seats standard fare. Factory options included push-button lubrication, automatic headlight dimmer, heater, radio and power antenna.

The most attractive and desirable of the Premiere line has always been the Convertible Coupe. Just 2,447 examples were built, of which only a few still exist. The matching numbers Premiere Convertible offered here is all the more uncommon, as it is finished in the “ only in the fifties ” Island Coral factory color. The Premiere is also fitted with a black top, and a stunning Island Coral and white two-tone interior.

Adding to its desirability, the car features almost every available factory option offered in 1956 including the continental kit, a power antenna, a Town & Country signal seeking radio, and twin spotlights, to name just a few. Having been treated to a full, body-off the frame restoration to exemplary standards just in time for the auction, the 1956 Lincoln Premiere Convertible is absolutely pristine. As expected, the paint is free of imperfections, while the door gaps and panel fit far exceeds original 1950s build standards. Also exceeding original build levels of quality, the chrome, stainless and glass all display a quality of finish and precision expected only of top-level concours cars. As for the Island Coral and white leather interior, there is little to be said, as it is entirely brand new.

Mechanically, the Premiere was thoroughly inspected before being completely restored, so that its next owner will find it as enjoyable to drive as it is to look at. At the time of the auction, the Premiere will have only been driven 15 to 20 test miles under ideal conditions.

The Premiere Convertible we are so pleased to offer here is in better condition than when it was first sold in 1956. So before you bid on this car, make sure you have plenty of room on your mantle, because if you ever choose to bring this trophy magnet to an LCOC or any other club event, plan on bringing home some hardware.
