Introduced in 1993, the 993 was Porsche’s last air-cooled 911 before increased emissions regulations forced a move toward a water-cooled platform. Porsche stunned the crowds at the 1995 Geneva motor show by unveiling a completely new 993 Turbo, featuring a magnificent wide-body design, full-time all-wheel-drive chassis inspired by the 959 supercar, and twin KKK turbochargers. It quickly put the world on notice that Porsche’s legendary air-cooled flagship did not intend to go gently into that good night. As a final masterstroke, in 1997, Rolf Sprenger of Porsche Exclusive created the incredible 993 Turbo S. The Turbo S improved upon the Turbo’s aggressive styling with functional vented rear-quarter panels, quad exhaust tips, and a revised aerokit, including a redesigned front spoiler that incorporated brake cooling ducts, and a fixed bi-level rear wing. Larger K-24 turbochargers, reworked Bosch Motronic engine management, and a modified exhaust pushed engine output to neck-snapping 424 hp. Coupled with the 959’s outrageous driveline layout and six-speed transaxle, the Turbo S rocketed to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds, posted a 12.2-second quarter-mile, and had a top speed of 188 mph. An additional oil cooler was added to alleviate engine heat, and 12.68" cross-drilled, multi-piston disc brakes with bright yellow calipers brought the action to a halt without delay. Inside, the Turbo S was fitted with a superbly tailored all-leather interior and carbon fiber instrument panel, dash trim, door panel inserts, door handles, emergency brake handle, and gearshift knob. According to its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity (COA), this spectacular 993 Turbo S was built on March 10, 1997, and delivered to Carlsen Porsche of Palo Alto, California. It arrived resplendent in the rare and elegant Forest Green Metallic over a Cashmere Beige and Black Supple Leather interior. Every Turbo S was extensively furnished by Porsche with a power sunroof, eight-way power and heated seats, power windows and locks, heated mirrors, premium sound system with CD player, Litronic high-intensity headlamps, headlamp washers, remote entry, and rear-window wiper. This Turbo S also has Porsche embroidered floor mats, console-mounted CD holder, selfdimming mirrors, rain sensor, and infrared security system, bringing its 1997 retail price to a prodigious $156,355. Cared for and safeguarded from new by loving Porschephiles, this 993 Turbo S is one of just 181 imported to the US. It has covered 13,900 miles from new and presents wonderfully. It is offered with its factory tool kit, jack, spare, air compressor, books, manuals, keys, window sticker, and Porsche COA. With its exclusivity, staggering performance, and striking beauty, this Forest Green Metallic Porsche 993 Turbo S is a worthy consideration for even the most discerning collector.
