Elegant Pinin Farina design
Manufactured in small series by Facel-Metallon

In 1948, Henri Pigozzi commissioned a special design from Pinin Farina for his popular Simca 8. Displayed that October on Simca’s stand at the Paris Salon, the public loved the prototype, and Pigozzi was so enamoured that he decided to put it into limited production, calling it the Simca-Sport.

Pigozzi’s friend Jean Daninos of Facel-Metalon handled production. Daninos launched the eight-cylinder Facel Vega coupé in 1954, which was clearly influenced by the Simca-Sport. In 1949, coupé and cabriolet production versions of the Simca-Sport appeared on Simca’s stand at the Salon, and for some time, orders were more than Facel could handle.

Soon, Simca-Sports were giving Delahayes and Talbots four times their price, a serious run for the money at French concours events. Today, chassis number 902034 presents in wonderful condition, having spent the majority of its life in its native France as evidenced by a previous road-tax certificate present on its windshield. It represents a rare opportunity to acquire an elegant 1950s cabriolet, eligible for many classic events.

Elegante desenho Pinin Farina

To view this car and others currently consigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/pg19.
