80bhp, 1,588 cc overhead valve inline four-cylinder engine, four-speed manual transmission, independent front and rear live axle suspension, front disc and rear drum brakes. Wheelbase: 85"

Introduced in 1955, the MGA Roadster was streamlined, aerodynamic and right up-to-the-minute in terms of styling and design. The body was so well received it would go virtually unchanged until the MGB replaced the MGA in 1963. The engine however would evolve continuously, growing steadily both in displacement and output.

Offered here is a fully restored 1960 MGA 1600 Roadster that has spent its entire life in New Mexico. A total ground-up, body-off restoration was started in 2004 and completed in 2006. The bare frame was sandblasted, acid primed and painted with black polyurethane. After being stripped, the exterior was acid primed and base coated in red, then finished with multiple clearcoats.

The engine was rebuilt using .60" over pistons, a .20" crankshaft and new bearings. Stellite valves and bronze guides were fitted to the head. Otherwise all components of the engine compartment were restored to the original specification, which included new hoses and clamps, a new clutch, fuel pump and a stainless steel exhaust system.

The original floorboards were replaced, custom fit, sealed and painted semi-gloss black. The windshield is the original, as is the metal grille. All the dashboard gauges and switches are original but the knobs have been replaced. The wiring harness is new and is of the original cloth-braided variety. The steering wheel and centerpiece are both new as well.

The car is fitted with a new convertible top and tonneau cover. The fresh carpet is black and similar in texture to the original Karvel material. The tan leather seats and tan interior panels very nicely complement the red exterior paint.

The restoration process took an estimated 1,200 hours, with each step photo documented in a dossier that is available to the next owner upon their purchase. All the parts on the car are original or NOS unless otherwise noted above. Having been driven less than 200 miles since the restoration was completed, the MGA 1600 Roadster is in excellent overall condition and ready to be enjoyed.
