Jaguar XK 140 FHC SE (1954)

The beloved Jaguar XK refutes the maxim that the original idea is the best. Even though the beautiful XK 120 still has such a pure character, the later Jaguar XK 140 is rated much higher by connoisseurs. The elegant lines of the XK 140 differ only in detail from the original design of Sir William Lyons, but due to some significant improvements, the XK 140 is a much more accessible and better driving car than its predecessor. The forwardly moved bulkhead creates welcome space for the driver and passenger. In addition, the finely finished XK 140 has better brakes, more powerful performance and precise rack and pinion steering.

The stylish Jaguar XK 140 Fixed Head Coupé from 1954 from the Peet Classics collection, was imported from the United States to the Netherlands in 1997. Nothing has been left to chance in the professional body-off restoration that followed. The chassis has been thoroughly overhauled, the sheet metal has been professionally repaired and repainted, a completely new wire harness has been installed and every individually reconditioned or renewed part has undergone thorough quality control. After several years of restoration of the Jaguar XK 140, the owner entrusted his car to the experts at Peet Classics for the "finishing touch".

For the left-hand drive, XK 140 FHC in SE version, originally delivered in California, Jaguar's legendary 3.4-liter six-cylinder in-line engine is fitted. It goes without saying that the engine has been completely overhauled, just like the four-speed gearbox (with electric overdrive) and the rear axle (with long final drive). As part of the "Special Equipment" version, which also has heavier torsion springs and a dual exhaust system, the engine features the C-Type cylinder head. This brings the powerfully growling six-cylinder to a maximum power of no less than 213 hp.

The deep gloss, dark green paintwork highlights the elegant lines of the body, while the newly chrome-plated parts give the XK140 a very chic appearance. The interior is upholstered in robust wool and leather of the highest quality in the original Jaguar color Suede Green. Together with the polished burr walnut instrument panel restored to the smallest detail, the interior of the XK 140 Fixed Head Coupé exudes a glowing atmosphere. Tailored spoke wheels in high-gloss black emphasize the sporty handling of the Jaguar. Michelin Pilote X radial tires surround the wheels in size ???.

Both the restoration and the history of the Jaguar XK 140 FHC SE are fully documented and supplemented with many invoices and photos.
