Known History

This Lamborghini Countach is exceptional in having covered just over 3 000 miles from new. As a consequence, the car is in virtually new condition. The coachwork, in the original white colour, is immaculate. The white leather interior bears hardly any trace of previous occupants, the carpets show no signs of wear, and the delicate bucket seats have not been subjected to any stress. Mechanically, the car is totally original.

Additionally, this is one of the most advanced versions of the Countach, appearing just before the Diablo was launched. First appearing in 1974, the Countach flaunted a spectacular design by Marcello Gandini, equipped with the V12 Lamborghini engine mounted longitudinally, originally in the 4-litre version, then 4.7-litres for the LP 500 S and finally 5.1-litres for the 5000 Quattrovalvole. With this power under its belt, the car could reach 300 km/h and travel from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds ; stats that can only be claimed by a small group of high performance cars even today. This brilliant engine called for some aesthetic modifications including larger air intakes to remedy initial cooling issues. In order to transmit its considerable power to the tarmac, this Countach was given the widest production tyres on the market, housed under incredibly wide arches. A feature accentuated on the car on offer as it was fitted in period with a side and rear skirt kit, by Koenig. This has since been taken off and will be supplied with the car.

This Countach was hardly used before it was put away in a barn in the mid-west by its American owner. Discovered in 2014, it was acquired by our vendor, a major European collector, who wanted to bring this Lamborghini, protected from the ravages of time, still fitted on its original tires, back into the limelight.

Sold with its set of tools and recently fitted with new tyres, this car will allow its new owner to feel like he is buying a new Countach, and to experience its qualities undiminished through use. In this, it represents an amazing opportunity that enthusiasts won't fail to appreciate.
