Known History

It has been confirmed to us by Marcel Massini that this elegant coupé 250 GT Pinin Farina was sold through the Ferrari importer based in New York, Chinetti Motors, to M. Weinmann, a resident of New York. At this time the car was Rosso Bordeaux. During the 1960s it passed into the hands of Ms Tosteson, based in Massachusetts. Selling again in 1987, it was acquired by A. Macioce of Boston, before returning to Italy in 1990 when it was bought by the major collector G. Prevosti. The owner of some very important cars and fastidious about presenting them in perfect condition, he decided to carry out a major restoration on this Ferrari. It was fully restored over a three-year period by Carrozzeria Bottini in Italy, during which time it was given a superb new livery in “Grigio Ferro“ with red leather interior. The Ferrari was sold at auction in 2007 and the new owner took it to the Italauto Garage in Holland to be mechanically overhauled. Today, this superb Ferrari 250 GT, complete with its original engine, can be described as being in concours condition, and comes with Ferrari Classiche certification and a FIVA passport.

This coupé belongs to the glorious 250 GT family that transformed Ferrari from a small-scale marque into a world-renowned manufacturer. Based on the powerful V12 engine designed by Gioacchino Colombo, it was as comfortable on the road as on the track. After the first examples of the 250 Ellena and 250 GT Europa, the development of this family of cars took off with the arrival of the 250 GT Pinin Farina coupé in 1958. This model was produced in numbers far greater than had been seen before at Ferrari, with more than 350 examples built between 1958 and 1960. Alongside the competition versions such as the legendary 250 GTO, this 250 GT coupé became the spearhead model for the marque, and it retains a special aura today.
