Known History

Presented in 1991, the 260 Atlantique attested to Venturi's sporting aspirations. The series, limited to 25 cars, still had the 2.8-litre PRV V6 developing 260 bhp, but was significantly lighter, weighing over 100 kg less than the 260 APC model at just 1110 kg. Even the 260 LM was said to be heavier! The chassis was lightened, and all the non-essential items of equipment made way for carbon and aluminium, with the soundproofing reduced to the bare minimum. Available only with attractive blue paintwork and specific markings, the 25 cars quickly found takers and are now among the most sought-after models from the marque.

The model presented here is the very last one built, as the dash-mounted plaque confirms. It is today showing just over 80,000 km from new. The engine was rebuilt by the Venturi specialist Extrême Limite and has only run about 3,000 km since then. A picture file shows the work done. The gearbox had also been rebuilt about 10,000 km ago. The bodywork is in well preserved condition and still has the markings specific to the model. The same holds true for the very nice interior restored with leather. This Atlantique is also equipped, as an option, with air conditioning, LM version rims and a short ratio gearbox. The current owner has had the car regularly maintained and it is ready to take to the road and delight its driver. The road test revealed a very good working order and a precise and incisive road handling. A French alternative to the Porsche 964 RS, the Atlantique offered a better balanced chassis and sharper handling, not to mention its exclusivity. Quite simply, this is an exceptionally rare opportunity!
