Known History

This Mercedes pagoda was sold new in the United States at the beginning of 1971, and the impressive accompanying file confirms that it was registered in Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1981. Numerous invoices from work done on the car during the 80s and 90s testify to the excellent care taken. This 280 SL is equipped with an automatic transmission and power steering, and still has its hardtop. The body has a high-quality cream paint, corresponding to its original color. The body seals are in good condition and an expert report carried out in 2013 noted the absence of any apparent trace of corrosion or accident. The chrome is in good condition, as are the tan upholstery and the woodwork. The alpaca hood requires refurbishment. A test drive revealed satisfactory operation of the mechanicals and the gearbox, while the braking was effective and balanced. A Pioneer CD-radio was fitted and the tires have very little wear, but will need to be replaced at the front because they date from 2001. This beautiful automobile features an elegant color combination and its good working condition will appeal to enthusiasts who wish to drive this summer in a reliable and efficient convertible.
