Known History

The lockdown was very bothersome, a long, and difficult notion of being confined, without the possibility of seeing your friends, your parents, except by phone or by video conversations. You wanted to escape, to travel, to drive, to discover new horizons, pretty landscapes, to meet people, for eye contact, to be closer to the nature that surrounds us... Here is the Artcurial Motorcars answer: a legend, the VW Combi T1 Camper, from 1961. This is an extremely rare model since, according to German experts point of view, just 7 Combi T1 Campers had their interior in real wood. This is a car, which was sold new in France and delivered on February 28, 1961. Its current owner, who acquired it in Pau (Southwest of France) in 1985 and who was aware of the vehicle since 1969, has given it a comprehensive restoration. The original 1200cc engine (block will be delivered to the future buyer) has been replaced by a more efficient 1600cc unit. The rest of the van was restored respecting the originality of the model. It is in an impressive state today, after the car had been disassembled, repaired and then reassembled. It is fitted with swiveling front seats and a 12/220 volt refrigerator. It has covered only 4200km since the restoration. This T1 Camper represents not only the possibility of adventure and travel, but is also a rarity, for serious enthusiasts to add to their collection.
