Known History

A San Diego, California 'garage find'

1. She has the small bumpers specific to Non-US models or early U.S. cars (1972 – 1973) which are in nearly perfect condition.

2. Imported directly from Europe in 1998, she is on a clean New Jersey title even though she moved to San Diego shortly afterwards with the same owner.

3. Current odometer reading is 119,112; mileage reported on the title is 102373 so it appears he drove approximately 17,000 miles.

4. Without California emissions, she could not be registered, so she sat in the previous owner's driveway under a cover until our purchase in 2017 (& then sat in our shop for a few years).

5. Cannot be sold to a California resident unless a licensed dealer, wholesaler, or exporter.

6. Resprayed some time ago in what appears to be the original color of DB #735 Astral Silver, from reading the body plate on the radiator core support.

7. The Roser* leather upholstery, dash, carpet, bright work, and glass appears to be all original.

8. U.S. lighting was likely added when she was imported. *Roser was a leather mill, no longer in business, famous for supplying vegetable-based, vat-dyed leather to Mercedes. It has a lovely and distinctive aroma all its own and cannot be duplicated with new, replacement upholstery–cherish it!

9. Last service was recently when we got her running after the long storage. The work included complete fuel system cleaning, tuning, new fuel pump, and more. There was over a week of shop hours spent; see the image of invoice included with the photos.

10. Being a Euro car, she’s had typical repair to the rockers and other portions of the undercarriage.

11. Runs and Drives but is clearly a project. Has large dents on the driver's door and left front fender. Paint is tired.

12. Air-conditioning requires servicing

13. Will need re-commissioning to be a safe and reliable driver.

14. The basic equipment works, including the sunroof.

15. Tires are ancient.
