A very smart example, nicely painted in Shell grey and Mason’s black, with contrasting and attractive red leather interior, which is supple and appealing, complemented by excellent carpets, headlining and woodwork. Much work has been carried out in the last couple of years, including a full engine overhaul in 2019 at a cost of approximately £14,000, as well as a new stainless exhaust system, brake overhaul, power steering attention, new fuel pump, etc, and various peripheral work related to the engine rebuild. All of this work is documented with invoices in the file accompanying the car, which also includes a twenty year run of MoT certificates and an original sales brochure. In all, about £25,000 has been spent in recent years, following which, the car is a very usable one, clean & tidy, and although there are a few blemishes and marks on the paintwork, ideal to use and be proud of. Complete with a very nice, correct tray of tools in the boot recess. Offered, serviced and newly MoT tested.

The first owner of SFU565 was Colonel Henry Haswell Peile (1903/79) of Ogle Castle in Northumberland. Ogle Castle was granted to Humphrey de Hoggell in 1066, his last direct descendant Catherine Ogle (1570/1629) married Sir Charles Cavendish (his mother was Elizabeth Harwicke who during her lifetime was one of the richest & most powerful women in England) with the Ogle estate being inherited by their son William Cavendish - during the 1642/46 Civil War William spent much of his considerable fortune raising troops for Charles I. The Peile family have been involved with coal mining since the early 1800s as John Peile was the colliery viewer (manager) at Whitehaven Colliery for Lord Lonsdale. In the 1930s and 40s Colonel Henry Peile served on the boards of Priestman Collieries Ltd & Ashington Coal Company Ltd alongside his brother George. During WWII Henry & his younger brother George served with the Royal Artillery, in 1943 & 1944 George Peile was awarded the Military Cross for his actions.
