| The now legendary Ape Piaggio was born in 1948 to provide the poorest categories with a means of work who could not afford a more “true” means of transport. In reality, the 3-wheeled Vespa with transport capacity was a brilliant idea that went far beyond initial hopes. In fact, even today, after going out of production in the mid-1990s, it is still widely used and the Ape (Bee) is now considered a design object, especially in its first versions. Among the tasks carried out by the Bee, one of the most famous was, in its version still produced in India, the transportation of people. In fact, this mini taxi was capable of getting into the narrowest alleys of Positano and Capri, or into Renaissance villages, taking advantage of its minimal dimensions and unique agility of movement. Rare and sought-after Piaggio Ape Calessino, produced in the early 1950s. Perfect testimony to the “Roman Holiday” and the “Dolce Vita...” Perfectly restored, new wooden parts. Ideal for a house, or a Relaix Chateau, by the sea. Rare, beautiful, refined, practical: a unique combination, never replicated. No documents available. Probably registered in Siena, Tuscany, Italy, in the second half of 1952.
