Known History

The FV4 is one of the models produced by Jean Daninos for export, and in particular the United States, which was a promising market for the company, and it was therefore equipped with the most powerful engines in the range. After 36 cars had been built with the Chrysler Typhoon TY5, the powerful 6.4-litre TY6 was fitted to the last 30 cars, making the FV4 - together with the HKII - the most powerful Facel Vega ever!

The car presented here is one of the final 30 and was delivered new in November 1957 by Max Hoffman, the importer in New York. It was equipped with automatic transmission. The body and roof were both finished in graphite grey, with bright red leather upholstery. Among the items of equipment fitted were Robergel wire wheels and blue tinted glass. Imported into the Netherlands in 1990, the FV4 had previously been owned by a collector in Missouri. When its current owner bought the car in 2018, it had just undergone a full chassis-up restoration, in accordance with its original specification. As a demanding enthusiast, he had more than 11,000 Ç worth of work carried out in 2019 to put the finishing touches to it. Since then, the car has covered 4000 km without incident. A valuation report drawn up in January 2020 concluded: "The vehicle has been completely restored to the highest standards, with particular attention paid to its mechanical components." Several photographs confirm the extensive work undertaken. Magnificent, rare, in its original specification and with one of the most powerful Chrysler engines fitted to a Facel, this FV4 represents a simply exceptional opportunity.
