Known History

Cod. RDS00101

The Fiat 508 Balilla was officially christened on 12 April 1932 at the

5th Milan Motor Show, a festival attended by all the best Italian manufacturers. She was immediately very successful when she took italian and foreign roads for her long journey through the history of engines that led her, among others, to Paris, at the Olympia Show in London, to take a tour of Italy by caravan, to carry out a raid of about 6,000 km on the bumpy roads of Morocco. Robust, agile, admired in the sedan, torpedo and spider versions, the Balilla entered the dreams of Italian families...

Decades passed and the car industry had given a car to almost every family, had created thousands of new models, but the Balilla did not age and always wore its line elegantly. It simply remained a rare and fashionable car. Those who owned it no longer sold it because it was too valuable to be abandoned. In January 1933 the Fiat 508 S was released, a spider sport derived from the standard Balilla and characterized by the famous "torpedo" line. The engine developed a power of 30 hp for a maximum speed of 110 kilometers per hour. The reconstruction began in the early 90s, from a body of a Balilla, the technique used is typing of the sheet metal by hand, including the reconstruction of the frame-body welded on aluminum tubes (necessary for the shape), as usual for the racing boats of the time.

All performed by a coachman but first of all Master Craftsman who in his more than 50 years of honorable career has built multiple works of art, all racing boats.

The frame is of a Balilla, a frame abandoned in the workshop for years and taken into processing in the early 90s, (modern times but shaped according to Soul and Heart of the past)

The reconstruction operation lasted about a year.

The originality of the workmanship leads to the uniqueness of the car, the passion starts from the construction.

Perfectly functional it is to be considered a unique piece, recalls the Barchette of the 1950s, built according to the will and tastes of the drivers who competed. Booklet of the time and complementary sheet. He participated in the 8th historical re-enactment of the Conegliano Circuit.
