Ford

engages the Escort in competition and the Escort TC, developed by

Ford Boreham's competition department takes the start

of the Rallye de San Remo (still called rallye des Fleurs) in

March 1968. It is equipped with the 4 cylinder Ford Lotus Twin Cam

rebored to 1,594 cm³ developing more than 150 hp. With Ove

Andersson and John Davenport, she won a brilliant 3rd place

behind Toivonen's Porsche 911 and Pat's Lancia Fulvia HF

Moss-Carlsson. Fifteen days later, Roger Clark brings him

his first victory at the Irish Circuit then a second victory

at the Tulip Rally a few days later. At the end of the season,

Ford wins first European Brand Championship

ahead of Saab, Porsche and Lancia. The Ford Escort Mk1, as we

nicknamed her, won the European Rally Championship in

1968, 1969 and the Wembley-Mexico marathon in 1970. Cleared

of its bumpers, with its inflated fenders, its magnesium rims

and its matte black hood, the Escort Twin Cam is a real

winning machine. A series of 113 cars will be produced by

Ford Competition at the Boreham plant in England.

This extremely rare Escort Twin Cam Mk1 manufactured in 1968 with

the 1600 Lotus engine is the 22nd of 55 cars produced for

Group 2 homologation. The car is presented in full

restored after its 4th participation in the Rallye du Maroc,

repainted in the BP colors of Group 2 of the Ford team, exact reproduction of Jean-François Piot's car. Everything was done in accordance with

fine detail and authenticity. Small bumpers, extensions

fenders, magnesium rims (+ 2 pairs), bucket seats

Recaro, fire extinguisher, rally accessories, roll cage, electrical circuit

in silver wire like Formula 1, ZF gearbox, hood and

polyester trunk ... The owner even went to England to find the rear fog light button

identical to the original one ...

This rare Escort Twin Cam Mk1 manufactured in 1968 with the

1600 Lotus engine is the 22nd of 55 cars produced for homologation in

Group 2. The car is presented fully restored after its 4th participation

in the Rally of Morocco, The car is still in run-up period. It is, of course, in

excellent condition, bodywork, paintwork, upholstery and mechanical

with clutch redone. It has been resprayed in BP Ford Group 2 color,

an exact replica of Jean-François Piot's car. Everything has been

done in respect of authenticity and details. Small bumpers, flared wings,

magnesium wheels (+ 2 pairs), Recaro bucket seats, fire extinguisher,

rally accessories, roll-cage, electric wire looms with silver wire, like a

Formula 1, ZF gearbox, polyester bonnet and boot lid ... The owner even

went to England in order to find the rear fog light button identical to the

original one ... The car is French registered and has
