Sold $99,900

This is probably the finest 1961 Impala SS Convertible in the world. The car came from the William Prizer collection of Nashua, New Hampshire. In 2002, Mr. Prizer spent over $125,000 on this fabulous full body-off the frame restoration that included overhauling the drive train. Sterling Auto Restorations of Wichita, Kansas performed the restoration. The SS option was available for the first time in January 1961. Only 39 convertibles were ordered with it and it is believed that only five came with the top performance option, a 348 cu. in. 350hp V8 engine with a four-speed transmission. This is a magnificently restored vehicle with the original drivetrain documented by a notarized statement from the original owner stating its authenticity. Also included are vintage photos of the original owner with the car. Driven approximately 200 miles since it was restored, this vehicle has astonishing collectability and is one of the rarest GM cars ever produced.
