A truly lovely example of a rare, attractive and desirable, four door, six light ‘Flying Spur’, beautifully finished in a lovely deep shade of blue, with a red pinstripe waistline, excellent red leather interior, lovely dark blue carpets, piped red, with deep pile over rugs, also in dark blue. The colour scheme works really well, and needs to be seen to be fully appreciated. The car is sharp and delightful in appearance, importantly, very sound in structure and very good mechanically too, driving nicely. Comes with a considerable file of history, including many invoices for work carried out from the 1980s onwards. An excellent car all round, sought after in design, a delight to behold and a pleasure to drive, well suited to modern roads and traffic conditions. An ideal long-distance cruiser. Serviced, prepared and offered MoT tested until September 2022.

Chassis No. BC82CZ Reg. No. AOT 284A

Snippets: Blended Whisky, Builders & Baillie
BC82CZ was ordered by Alexander B Grant of Glasgow, his company Allander Blender Co Ltd (A. B. Grant & Co) was a distilling, blending & bottling company who produced Talloch blended whisky and a London Dry gin. Their best known whisky was Bruichladdich which was founded in 1881 by 3 Harvey brothers but was closed in the early 1930s until it was acquired by Joseph Hobbs and thence by A B Grant Ltd. Alexander Grant sold BC82CZ back to the supplying dealership of Callanders and it would appear that the car was kept for several years by their MD – Eugene Heresen – and used as his personal transport. In the 1980s the car returned to England and was registered to Peter King of G J King & Son (Brighton) Ltd who had the personal number plate of GJK5. Later owners include the splendidly named Wensley Grosvenor Haydon-Baillie, Chairman of Porton International, Wensley was a city financier who owned a collection consisting of Spitfires, Rolls-Royce cars, two of the world’s largest passenger hovercraft and the stately house – Wentworth Woodhouse. When he married his much younger cousin the best man was Prince Michael of Kent, sadly the marriage collapsed after just a few years.
