Known History

The CitroŽn 5 HP was launched at the 1921 Paris Motor Show in the form of a small torpedo called "Type C" which would evolve into C2 in 1923 (with a reinforced chassis) then into C3 (extended wheelbase) in 1925. The last was available as a torpedo and a two-seater convertible as well as a three-seater trŤfle. It is this last version which is today the most sought after by collectors and which is on offer here. This example left the factory in February 1925 and joined the collection in 2004, after it had spent some time in Essonne. Indeed, no CitroŽn collection is worthy of the name without a TrŤfle, and it is on this basis that our collector had selected this car. An old restoration gives the car a real charm and a homogeneous state of presentation. The car stopped being used a few years ago, but restarting it, after the usual checks, should only be a formality. We also noted that between 2004 and today, the car had covered just 53 km! Under the hood, we noticed that the cooling had been improved by the adaption of a 4-blade propeller. The soft top is in good used condition and completed with a cover and a tonneau cover. This 5HP has interesting period equipment such as the manual double squeegee wiper, dashboard lighting, pear horn for the city and electric for the road... so many obsolete details that take us back to the time of the first motorists. After a complete overhaul, this interesting torpedo will be ready for the road again, attracting empathy and astonishment.
