Known History

According to the hand-written notes in the delivery book for this Mercedes 600, the car was delivered new by the Mercedes agent on Avenue de la Grande Armée (Paris) to its first owner, the actor Jean-Louis Trintignant. A motor-car enthusiast, he was also the nephew of Maurice and Louis Trintignant. His role as a racing driver in Un Homme et une Femme (Claude Lelouch, 1966) was a perfect fit as he had taken part in motor racing between 1960 to 1980, as part of the Simca Racing Team and also at the wheel of a 505 Sti in the Monte Carlo Rally.

Originally registered 9336 WG 75, this Mercedes 600 was then registered in the Hauts de Seine department between 1972 and 1990, the year it sold to a certain M. F., living Quai d'Orsay. It is from this gentleman that the current owner, an important Italian Mercedes collector, acquired the car in 2007. At this point the car had some repair work carried out, as detailed in a file of photos : paintwork, chrome, hydraulic system (controlling not just the steering and brakes, but also certain accessories including the windows). Inside, the wood trim was re-done while the dark green leather, in superb condition, was conserved. This upholstery complements the metallic gold exterior paintwork beautifully. The original equipment includes headrests (a period option), Becker radio and, in the back, foot rests and Becker radio controls. The car comes with its original manuals and tools.

A genuine flagship model for the marque, this magnificently preserved 600 is a tribute to the power and luxury of this remarkable automobile.
