Known History

This superb 300 SE Coupé with automatic transmission was bought new from the Parisian dealer Royal Elysées SA by the current owner's father, then an industrialist in the Hautes-Pyrénées. He chose the elegant "Graphite Grey" paintwork (ref. DB 190), with beige leather upholstery and matching carpets. A Becker Grand Prix radio and electric windows rounded off its standard equipment. It was first registered on 5 July 1963, as is confirmed by the original registration certificate which will be supplied with the car. Laid up for 15 years (the last oil change was in 2006 at 77,552km), the car has just emerged from oblivion and, having been carefully stored, could be started up without any major problems. The hydraulic suspension is in working order, but the car will naturally need a full service. It has a simply remarkable patina: the body was repainted in the past in its original colour, protecting the coachwork, which has remained very sound. The interior is completely original and well preserved, with a splendid patina. The car has been looked after with great care and still has its French owner's manual, its "Datenkarte" (which confirms that the engine is original) and even its lubrication chart from the period. A detailed valuation report, drawn up in April 2021, concluded that the car was in well-preserved condition and reminds us that only 2419 examples were built. It seems impossible nowadays to find a model with as clear a history and in such condition ... It should be noted that its first owner was so impressed by the car's qualities that in 1968 he again placed his trust in the marque and acquired the 600 also offered in this auction!
