Known History

A V12 300bhp 5-litre engine: this is what powered the 850i when it appeared. These figures sound good on paper, but for the considerably weighty top-of-the-range coupé, BMW asked Motorsport to upgrade the trusted engine and it increased to 5.6-litres and 380 bhp for the CSI version available from 1992.

The example presented was one of the first 850 CSIs to be sold, confirmed by BMW as leaving the factory on 23 October 1992. Sold new in Germany, it is presented in the desirable colour combination of black coachwork with white leather interior. The wealth of standard equipment has been supplemented by an optional electric sunroof, heated electric seats with memory and an alarm. Additionally, the car is equipped with a manual 6-speed gearbox. It was registered in France from 1995 and was acquired by the current owner in 2012. The stamped service book and details of various MOT inspections provides a mileage history which is just under 120 000 km today. The bodywork has been repainted, while the upholstery is in well-conserved original condition. A file of invoices comes with the car, along with the manuals and a spare key. The toolkit is complete and the first aid kit in the rear centre armrest is still present. The tyres and the windscreen wiper relay need to be replaced. With just 1510 CSI versions produced, this coupé represents a rare opportunity, attracting an interest that is set to grow year on year.
