Known History

The Carrera RS, wearing the RS badge made famous by the legendary 2.7 RS, was a sports version derived from the Carrera 2, intended for Group N/GT. Equipped with a 260 bhp 3.6-litre engine, the weight of the car was kept down through the use of special materials and a reduced equipment. Lighter by 160kg than the standard Carrera 2, production was limited to 2 500 examples, making this a rare and powerful model that, like all exclusive Porsches, is highly sought-after today.

The example on offer, dating from 1992, was delivered new in Belgium by the independent importer D'ieteren. First registered in France in April 2000, the current owner, a professional in the automotive field, acquired the car in 2007. At this point, it was damaged, and deemed uneconomical to repair following an accident in 2005. However, being a Mercedes dealer, he was able to carry out a full restoration. This involved putting the car on a jig and stripping it back to bare metal. The highest standard of work was carried out, as is customary for such a representative of the flagship German marque. The aim of the project was to use the car as a showcase for the brand's expertise. The extent of the restoration is confirmed by inspection reports, photographs and various invoices for parts and labour that are in the file. Once the restoration was completed, several years later, he sold the car briefly to a friend before buying it back as a private individual in 2011, to add to his collection. He has driven the car very little since then and, with a current mileage of just over 105232 km, it is presented in lovely overall condition. To add the finishing touches, the rear mat has just been replaced with newly embroidered " Carrera RS ", and the car has four new tyres on repainted magnesium wheels. Presented in " Midnight Blue Metallic " this RS is equipped with the lovely original bucket seats in two-tone black and blue leather. It still has its factory label fixed under the front bonnet. Offering a superb right of entry to the highly prized world of " RS " Porsche, our remarkably well restored 964 provides the perfect tool for a gentleman driver looking to take part in motorsport.
