Known History

The 911 SC, a special edition reserved exclusively for the American market, was named " Weissach ", after the engineers at the Porsche Centre of Research and Development, and in reference to the special orders department " Sonderwunschabteilung ". This lavishly-equipped model appeared in 1980, limited to 408 examples, and was intended to showcase the full extent of Porsche's expertise. Identified by the designation option M439, this version had front and rear spoilers, passenger mirror, Fuchs wheels with body-colour spokes, fog lamps, Bilstein shocks, sports seats, air conditioning and electric aerial. It appeared in just two colours, in equal numbers of 204 each of black and platinum metallic. They all had the same " doric grey " leather interior with plush burgundy red velours mats with matching piping.

The example on offer, presented in metallic black, rolled off the production line on 17 June 1980 and was delivered new by the Porsche-Audi dealership in Oklahoma City on 3 November 1980. In addition to the standard equipment on this amply-furnished model, this car had cruise control, limited-slip differential, green graded windscreen and electric sunroof. The car has clearly benefitted from being well maintained, and with its low mileage of just over 59800 miles likely to be original based on elements in the file, it remains in good, conserved condition today. The vehicle received some cosmetic attention when it was 'Europeanised' after being imported into France in 2019. Having been driven very little in the last few years, it needs only a service. The Pirelli tyres are recent and conform to the specification on the certificate of authenticity in the file. Also included is the original service book and the owner's manual in their folder. The toolkit and jack are also present. Reliable and powerful, this 911 SC Weissach will appeal to anyone who appreciates the 911's ease of use, and is looking for the extra attraction of some desirable options and the finish specific to this special series that adds an undeniable supplement of exclusivity.
