Known History

The Austin Healey Mk III BJ8 was built from the beginning of 1964. Powered by twin SU carburettors, the engine power increased to 148bhp at 5250rpm, helped by a redesigned exhaust system, and complemented by a new dashboard and a vacuum brake booster as standard equipment for this final version. Donald Healey imposed other improvements on this model too amongst others was a new steering box, better insulation for the cockpit, winding windows, and better coil springs for the front suspension, with a slightly raised rear suspension. Having built 1,389 units, the company decided a few small changes were needed, including increased ground clearance, a better guidance of the rear axle, bigger front disc brakes, etc. This is why - in an informal way - the first 1,389 cars were referred to as the 3000 Mk III phase 1 and phase 2 was what followed.

Our two-tone Big Healey, British racing green metallic with ivory sides and 72-spoke wire wheels in the same colour, really turns heads. The beautiful interior is finished in biscuit leather with chocolate piping and wool carpeting. It is equipped with a stainless steel exhaust and long-range headlights. It also benefits from the Phase II rear suspension modification.
