The Triumph TR6 was produced between 1969 and 1976 and, by the time production ended in July 1976, it was the best-seller of the TR range. In total 94,619 TR6s were manufactured of which 86,249 were sold overseas and only 8,370 were sold in the UK. The bodywork closely resembled that of the previous model, the TR5, but the front and rear were squared off and all TR6s featured inline six-cylinder engines. The TR6 featured a four-speed manual transmission and an optional equipment overdrive unit was a desirable feature because it gave drivers close-gearing for spirited driving whilst remaining an excellent touring car for open motorways. It also featured independent rear suspension, rack and pinion steering, 15" wheels and tyres, pile carpet on the floors and boot, bucket seats and a full complement of instrumentation. Braking was provided by disc brakes at the front and rear drum brakes.
This lovely left hand drive example is presented in red with a black interior and was imported into the UK from the USA in 2020. It was then the subject of a body and mechanical restoration in 2004, less than 20,000 miles ago. The engine was completely rebuilt, new Weber carburettors and linkages were fitted along with a new clutch and water pump. A replacement boot floor and rear wing was fitted as well as the front wings and these were then also resprayed. The history file contains invoices and a paper trail of history which goes back to 2000 as well as importation documents from HMRC and DVLA. This is a very tidy example with a good history that is priced reasonably.
