Technically, these correspond to the sedans, which debuted in February 1962, i.e. just one year after the sedan (and the 111 coupés and convertibles), and remained in the range until December 1967, i.e. two years longer than their four-door sister models (only 4 years shorter than the 111 coupes and convertibles). Unlike the sedans, they do not have fashionable tail fins, a lower roof line and therefore generally look more elegant and timeless, giving them classic status much earlier. That timelessness also made it possible to build them virtually unchanged alongside the successors to the 112 sedans, the S-classes of the W 108/W 109 series. However, only 2419 coupés (model 112.021) and 708 convertibles (model 112.023) were built in total.
The body styles of both models were produced in the W 111 series from 1967 with a lower radiator front ("flat radiator", as opposed to the previous high radiator), until 1971, when a successor model based on the W 116 S-Class saloon , which was about to premiere, became available but was not posted. Instead, Daimler-Benz developed a coupe based on the then also presented new SL roadster (R 107), the proportions of which (much longer wheelbase) are controversial.
Technology and Drive
All W 112 are equipped with special technical features as standard. They are the actual, prestige-enhancing difference to the W 111 models:

The car here is finished in light blue metallic and has a dark blue leather interior, a characteristic white steering wheel and a beautiful Becker radio. It is the automatic version and the Mercedes has the standard air suspension. The chrome that has been applied extensively on this car adorns it enormously. It is therefore a chic appearance for the real Mercedes fan.

Technisch gezien komen deze overeen met de sedans, die hun debuut maakten in februari 1962, d.w.z. slechts een jaar na de sedan (en de 111 coupés en cabriolets), en in het programma bleven tot december 1967, d.w.z. twee jaar langer dan hun vierdeurs zustermodellen (maar 4 jaar korter dan de 111 coupés en cabrio's). In tegenstelling tot de sedans hebben ze geen modieuze staartvinnen, een lagere daklijn en zien ze er daardoor over het algemeen eleganter en tijdlozer uit, waardoor ze al veel eerder een klassieke status kregen. Die tijdloosheid maakte het ook mogelijk om ze vrijwel onveranderd te bouwen naast de opvolgers van de 112 sedans, de S-klassen van de W 108/W 109-serie. Er werden echter in totaal slechts 2419 coupés (model 112.021) en 708 cabriolets (model 112.023) gebouwd.
De carrosserievormen van beide modellen werden vanaf 1967 in de W 111-serie geproduceerd met een lager radiatorfront ("platte radiator", in tegenstelling tot de vorige hoge radiator), tot 1971, toen een opvolgermodel op basis van de W 116 S -Klasse sedan, die op het punt stond in première te gaan, kwam beschikbaar, maar werd niet gepost. De auto hier is uitgevoerd in lichblauw metallic en heeft een donkerblauw lederen interieur, een karakteristiek wit stuur en een mooie Becker radio. Het is de automaat versie en de Mercedes heeft de standaard luchtvering. Het chroom dat reikelijk is aangebracht op deze auto siert hem enorm.Het is ddarom een chique verschijning voor de echte Mercedes fan.
