With the release of the 3000 MkII BJ7, for the first time Austin Healey offered a proper convertible top, roll-up windows, and a wraparound windshield. These improvements resulted in the production of one of the most popular postwar British sports cars of all time.

The current owner acquired H-BJ7-L/20619 in disassembled form in May 2000 after an exhaustive search for a rust and accident-free restoration project. With loads of enthusiasm, not to mention considerable talent, he embarked on a meticulously documented three-year, frame-off restoration, with guidance and assistance from noted marque specialists Sport & Specialty in Durand, IL.

Although rebuilt largely to original specifications, there are a few sympathetic upgrades that have been added for increased performance under modern driving conditions. The original BJ7s had a Girling brake servo only as an option - this car has a vastly superior Lockheed unit; instead of the standard 48-spoke Dunlop wheels, this car has modern 72-spoke Dayton wheels with Vredestein Sprint Classic radial tires supplied from British Wire Wheel. The front suspension features adjustable trunnions at the top for improved handling and it is fitted with a stainless steel exhaust system. Lastly, although an original style steering wheel is included, the car currently sports a lovely Moto-Lita wheel.

After having won numerous concours and club awards, the owner has started a new and infinitely more complex restoration of an Aston Martin DB MkIII, so to help underwrite the costs, the beloved Healey must go. It is presented today excellent in all respects, having covered approximately 8,000 careful miles since completion. A new convertible top cover, as well as an original tonneau is included. The owner will also supply its Heritage Certificate plus an album featuring hundreds of photos documenting the restoration, and the full receipt file along with owner’s manuals, workshop books, and parts catalogs.

Very attractive in its original livery of Old English White, with black Connolly leather trim, seats piped in ivory, this superb example of the desirable BJ7 is ready for spring touring.
