This magnificent car was rebuilt in its present form by well-known French Hotchkiss expert and collector Pascal Lagreze from original parts stored by him since the 1950's. It is an inspired re-creation of the 'works' Hotchkiss seen pre-war at the famous Mont Ventoux Hill Climb, in Provence and also known to have been in the Bugatti Workshops in Paris. The chassis is a 1934 615 with 1936 686GS Hotchkiss engine, gearbox, axles, brakes and all running gear. The bodywork, interior, instrumentation and all the detailing looks totally authentic and is of very high quality. The powerful 3485 cc ohv seven-bearing crankshaft engine which was rebuilt in 2008 produces around 140 bhp and is fitted with triple Solex EX22 carburettors (only two such installations are known to exist; the other was in the Serge Pozzoli Collection). This engine really pulls very well and has the most glorious exhaust note. It has 4 speed gearbox plus overdrive for effortless touring, overhauled servo assisted hydraulic brakes, a new radiator, Marchal headlamps and full wet-weather equipment. N.B. an alternator is currently fitted but an original dynamo is also included. It has new 19" wheels fitted with new 6.50 x 19" Dunlop Racing tyres N.B. some of the photos show the car with its 18" wheels and 6.00 x 18" Michelin tyres which are also included in the sale. 20,000 euros has been spent on the car during the last two years; mostly in preparation for taking part in The Old-timer Grand-Prix at the Nurburgring, where she proved to be fast and reliable. The car has a current UK Vintage Sports Car Club eligibility document (a Buff Form) and is now UK registered with MOT Certificate to 24/09/2010. The car is ready to use and enjoy either in competition or for fast road use. Having rarity, quality, stunning looks and performance, she compares very well with similar Alvis and Lagonda sports-racing cars; but is appealingly different. N.B. It is sometimes forgotten that Hotchkiss cars won the Monte Carlo Rallye outright in 1932,'33,'34,'39 & '50 ! plus a Coupes des Glaciers in the 1934 Alpine Rallye.
