The letter M only says enough. Perhaps some people still think of James Bond’s boss, the fictional head of the British Secret Intelligence, better known as MI6, but most of them will immediately associate it with BMW. The fact that the M is directly linked to the Bavarian company’s fastest top products is the logical consequence of the fact that the M stands for Motorsport. The striking BMW logo was supplemented with a blue, violet and red design for the M series and is very recognizable. The enthusiast immediately sees the small logo on a BMW and knows that we are dealing here with something special. Countless times, this logo was the first to see the checkered flag during races, and of course these successes also had to be followed up in the sales of the sportier models. And we can say that that BMW succeeded in that. The majority of BMW models were and are still available with M packages. From appearance and interior upgrades, chassis adjustments and engines that deliver many horsepower more than the standard version: everything the demanding BMW driver could wish for is available.
The BMW M3 from the E46 series that we now offer is such a lucky car to be an M. Because that letter alone often ensures that there is a loving owner behind it. The first owner in particular had to pay a lot of money extra to acquire this version and often also filled out the options list extensively. This is also the case with this car. The Titan silver metallic M3 was delivered on May 27, 2002 by BMW dealer Emil Frey from Limone Italy. The car was maintained here until 2018 when the first owner sold the car to a new and Dutch owner. The mileage at the time was only 47.493 km. Coincidentally, we know this owner as a customer of ours and know that he is a car enthusiast par excellence, but who also sometimes changes his collection. The car thus ended up in the private collection of a BMW dealer in 2022. Again, it was driven very little and that brings the current mileage to only 48.344 km. What you can also expect from real enthusiasts is that regardless of these few kilometers driven, the car has been maintained completely according to the book. All documentation and invoices are present to proof that the care of the car has always been perfectly.
The BMW is not only very well maintained in terms of maintenance, but it of course starts with how the owners have handled the car. No circuit use, normal driving, washing and cleaning on time, not driving too close to the vehicle in front so that stone chips can be avoided, are just a few of the points on which the three owners have good taken of. Only in this way can a car still look as good as new and function perfectly after more than 21 years. The bodywork is truly beautiful in its original paint and shows no damage whatsoever. It looks like it was painted yesterday.. but it wasn’t of course. The interior exudes genuine BMW quality and the beautiful black leather is the best combination with the silver body color.
The underside of the car is also exceptionally clean and is a feast for the eyes of the technicians who carry out the maintenance. And take a look under the hood where the 3.4 liter 6-cylinder that delivers no less than 343 hp is located: so clean, so beautiful, and… we have not cleaned anything here. This is how clean the car has been all these years.
So we are talking about a unique BMW M3 E46, in very original condition, from the collection of the third owner, superbly maintained, complete in its first paint, and… equipped with the manual 6-speed gearbox, which is very sought after by the real enthusiast. The automatic SMG gearbox is nice, but the real BMW fan wants a manual. The name actually says it all, the M can also stand for “manual”…

Alleen de letter M zegt al voldoende. Misschien dat een enkeling hierbij nog denkt aan de baas van James Bond, het fictieve hoofd van de Britse geheime dienst Secret Intelligence, beter bekend als MI6, maar deze meesten zullen het toch direct associëren met BMW. Dat de M direct gekoppeld wordt aan de snelste topproducten van de Beierse firma is het logische gevolg van het feit dat de M staat voor Motorsport. Het opvallende BMW logo werd voor de M serie aangevuld met een blauw, violet en rood design en is zeer herkenbaar. Een klein logo op een BMW ziet de liefhebber meteen en weet dat we hier te maken hebben met iets bijzonders. Ontelbare keren zag dit logo als eerste de finishvlag tijdens spraakmakende races, en natuurlijk moesten deze successen ook een vervolg krijgen in de verkoop van de sportievere modellen. En dat is zeker gelukt kunnen we wel stellen. Het merendeel van de BMW modellen waren en zijn steeds verkrijgbaar met M pakketten. Van uiterlijk en interieur upgrades, onderstelaanpassingen en tot vele pk’s meer dan de standaarduitvoering leverende motoren: alles wat de veeleisende BMW rijder maar kan wensen is leverbaar.
De BMW M3 uit de E46 serie die we nu aanbieden is zo’n geluksvogel een M te mogen zijn. Want alleen die letter zorgt er veelal voor dat er een liefhebbende eigenaar achter staat. Vooral de eerste eigenaar heeft flink in de buidel moeten tasten om deze uitvoering te kunnen bemachtigen en vaak werd hierbij ook nog eens flink de optielijst aangevinkt. Zo ook bij deze auto. Hier werd de auto onderhouden tot 2018 toen de eerste eigenaar de auto verkocht aan een nieuwe en Nederlandse eigenaar. De kilometerstand was toen slechts 47493 km. Het toeval wil dat we deze eigenaar kennen als een klant van ons en weten dat het een autoliefhebber pur sang is, maar die ook nog wel eens wisselt qua collectie. Aldus kwam de auto in 2022 terecht in de privé verzameling van een BMW dealer. Weer werd er heel weinig mee gereden en dat brengt de huidige kilometerstand op slechts 48.344 km. Wat u overigens ook mag verwachten bij echte liefhebbers, is dat ongeacht deze weinig gereden kilometers, de auto geheel volgens het boekje is onderhouden. Alle documentatie en facturen zijn aanwezig om aan te tonen dat de verzorging van de auto altijd “hervorragend” is geweest.
Niet alleen qua onderhoud is de BMW zeer goed verzorgt, maar het begint natuurlijk bij hoe de eigenaren zelf met de auto hebben omgegaan. Geen circuit gebruik, normaal rijden, soms echt lekker doorrijden als de situatie zich daarvoor leent, op tijd wassen en poetsen, niet te dicht op de voorganger rijden zodat steenslag zo goed als voorkomen kan worden, zijn zo maar enkele punten waar de drie eigenaren zich keuring aan hebben gehouden. Alleen op deze wijze kan een auto er na ruim 21 jaar nog zo goed als nieuw uitzien en perfect functioneren. De carrosserie zit werkelijk prachtig in de nog eerst lak en vertoont geen enkele beschadiging. Het interieur straalt idem de echte BMW kwaliteit uit en het diepzwarte leder is de beste combinatie met de carrosseriekleur.
Ook de onderkant van de auto is van een uitzonderlijke reinheid en is een lust voor het oog van de technici die het onderhoud mochten en mogen verrichten. En kijk eens onder de motorkap waar de maar liefst 343 pk leverende, 3.4 liter 6-cilinder ligt: zo schoon, zo mooi, en… wij hebben hier niets aan gepoetst. Zo clean is de auto al die jaren geweest.
We spreken hier dus van een unieke, in zeer originele staat verkerende BMW M3 E46, afkomstig uit de collectie van de derde eigenaar, subliem onderhouden, compleet in der eerste lak, en…..voorzien van de door de echte liefhebber gezochte handbediende 6-versnellingsbak. De automatische SMG bak is wel leuk, maar de echte BMW fanaat wil handbediend. De naam zegt het eigenlijk al, de M kan ook staan voor “manual”…
