1957 AC Aceca

Dark Blue with Grey Interior

s/n AEX 607 Eng. No CL2337W

AC Ace Company began in the 1890’s as builders of motorized mail carriers and delivery carts and then proceeded to build their first automobiles in the beginning of this century. Producing no more than 200 cars per year, they never became very large in the industry but they did earn the reputation as the longest continuously operated automobile company until their demise in the late 1980’s.

This particular car is an example of their fastback model. The six cylinder engine is their own, based on a 1911 aero-design for biplane propulsion. The engine block and all bodywork is aluminum, both for weight saving properties as well as hand fabrication methods. Top speed is in excess of 115 mph.

The roadster version of this car, known as the “Ace” was the model from which the famous AC Cobra derived in 1962.
