Nothing more clearly shows the evolution of Ferrari into the premier constructor of grand touring automobiles than the 1966 Geneva Auto Show debut of the 330 GTC. Borrowing liberally from many successful Ferrari automobiles, it offered the 4.0-litre engine in a chassis closely patterned after the 275 GTB. Coachwork by Pininfarina combined a gorgeous nose borrowed from the 400 Superamericas with a prominent beltline from the doors back culminating in a tail that clearly paid homage to the 275 GTS. The thin-pillared, airy greenhouse owes little to any prior Ferrari but crisply reflects Pininfarina ’ s mastery of form and unifies this potentially disparate collection of design elements into a clean and refreshing form of its own.

In keeping with its intended mission as a grand touring car, the 330 GTC ’ s interior accommodations are both commodious and luxurious, with ample luggage room both in the trunk and behind the seats. Some 600 330 GTCs were built in the years before it was superseded by the 365 GTC, one of the most successful models in Ferrari ’ s history and a one still coveted for its style, performance and luxury.

The prior owner of this 330 GTC acquired the car in 1990. At the time, the car was freshly painted silver and the dash had been reupholstered, however the rest of the red leather interior was - and still remains - original. The 330 GTC was regularly maintained by Ferrari of Washington and is today in excellent starting, running and driving condition.

The Ferrari is complete with a host of desirable amenities including power windows and air conditioning as well as a correct owner ’ s manual. The paint and chrome show minor wear and only minor chips, as this Ferrari has been driven regularly by its current owner. The body is very straight and solid, displaying excellent fit and finish throughout.

The 330 GTC remains one of Pininfarina ’ s best designs. With the 300hp 4.0-litre engine, it is a powerful performer on the open road, yet remains pleasant to drive in town. It is one of those rare long-legged classics that is as enjoyable for a fast run across Europe today as it was when new.
