The predecessor to the 365 GTC was introduced to the world at the Geneva Auto Show in 1966. The 330 GTC was a happy marriage of three elements: the chassis of the 275 GTB, the new larger engine from the 330 GT 2+2, and sleek new two seater coachwork penned by Pininfarina.

The body itself was derived from two of Ferrari ’ s most admired designs. The nose came from the 400 Superamerica, and the tail was from the 275GTS. The result is highly admired today as the quintessential two place GT car of the period. The chassis was highly advanced for the time, utilizing Ferrari ’ s competition-inspired rear mounted transaxle, four-wheel disc brakes, and four-wheel independent suspension.

In late 1968, a new engine displacing 4.4 litres was installed, thus creating the 365 GTC. With the exception of the larger engine and the removal of the 330 GTC ’ s fender vents, the 365 GTC was otherwise very similar to its predecessor. In total, about 150 365 GTCs were produced, making them relatively rare, and consequently attractive to collectors today.

The 1968 Ferrari 365 GTC presented here in light blue metallic maintains the appearance of a very nice, highly original late-sixties Ferrari. There is no question that the interior upholstery is entirely original; it is finished with black seats, dark blue carpets and a very nice inlaid wood dash. The odometer indicates 71,000 kilometers; although not verified, the condition of the vehicle is appropriate to such a mileage and there is no evidence to suggest that it may be inaccurate. It appears that the right front of the car has been repainted at one point, most likely for repairs.

With air conditioning, power windows and being VAT paid, the Ferrari is an appealing example. Recently treated to a thorough mechanical service and detail, the 365 GTC is ready to be enjoyed on the open road.
