Specifications: 300bhp 3,967cc single overhead camshaft V-12 engine, five-speed manual transmission, independent front suspension with coil springs, live axle rear suspension with semi-elliptical leaf springs, four-wheel disc brakes. Wheelbase 2,650mm (100.8").

The 330 GT 2+2 evolved out of the 250 GTE but was a significantly different Ferrari. The 330 GT 2+2 ’ s single overhead camshaft V-12 was based on a stretched block but otherwise carrying forward the refined and developed concepts of the Colombo-designed Ferrari V-12. The longer engine block was accommodated in a 50mm longer wheelbase chassis than the preceding 250 GTE.

The first series 330 GT 2+2s adopted a four-headlight configuration with smaller driving lights placed inboard of the headlights in a tapered fender recess. The concept, borrowed from American styling themes of the era, was timely but not successful and the Series I 330 GT 2+2 was soon succeeded by a single headlight Series II version that looked more refined and purposeful.

Other changes were incorporated in the 330 GT 2+2 during its life, particularly as Ferrari adapted to its clients ’ changing transmission expectations. The 330 GT 2+2 had three during its life: an overdrive four-speed right out of the 250 GT, and finally a five-speed box that corresponded with the choice offered buyers of the more sporting 275 GTB.

The Second Series Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 offered here is finished in its original factory silver coachwork with original black leather upholstery and red carpets. Never having required restoration, s/n 8601 is presented in good all- round original condition and wears its age well.

Recent maintenance work includes re-chroming of the front and rear bumpers, a new stainless steel exhaust, a full check of all electrics, a front and rear brake overhaul, overhaul of the clutch hydraulics, wheel alignments, new air and oil filters, distributor overhaul, and much more.

Mechanically the car would seem to be in excellent order with doors closing with the ease that is associated with an un-restored car. It is rare to find a 1960 ’ s classic in such original condition and a Series II single headlight example will make a very stylish and practical 12 cylinder road going Ferrari that is as practical for everyday transport as it is a high speed weekend express.
