318hp, 389 cu. in V-8 engine, Tri-power three-two barrel carburetors, Hydra-Matic Fully automatic transmission, ball joint independent front and pivoted control arm rear suspension, four-wheel drum brakes.

In 1954 Pontiac introduced the Bonneville name on a pair of bubble-topped GM Motorama concept cars called the Bonneville Special. In 1957 the Pontiac Bonneville Convertible was introduced as a truly limited production car, with a total of only 630 units produced and a Cadillac-like price of over $5,000. This high performance model was significantly upgraded from the previous Star Chief Convertible originally introduced in 1954.

For 1959, the Bonneville became a full top-line series with the addition of the four-door hardtop sedan and Safari station wagon. It was in that year when Pontiac introduced two marketing campaigns that they would successfully use for years: the split grille and the Wide Track slogans. The split grill became a styling icon, but Pontiac created their still famous Wide Track by pushing their wheels farther out toward the fenders than anyone else and created what were considered to be the best-cornering full-size cars in the industry. Both the grille design and the Wide Track phrase are still part of Pontiac's image today.

The example presented here was the subject of a rotisserie restoration in the late 1980s. The white paint, chrome and stainless brightwork, three-tone red interior and white top were beautifully restored.

The engine bay and underside are as clean as the interior. During restoration, the craftsmen started with a matching number, low-mileage, straight and rust free car loaded with 35 factory options including (but not limited to) 389 tri-power V8 engine, 4-speed automatic transmission, dual exhaust, air conditioning, tinted glass, power steering, power brakes, power windows, cruise control, glove box mounted sportable transistor radio, power trunk release, remote control mirror, externally mounted spot-light, back-up lamps, trunk lamp, oil filter, marble steering wheel, 8-lug wheels with trim rings, whitewall tires, heavy duty springs, generator and starter, padded dash, windshield washer system, rear seat speaker, locking gas cap and dual speed wipers. This is one of the finest restored cars of the collection and it worthy of any collection.
