Exterior Color: Red

E.L. Cord broke new ground with his front wheel drive line, officially designated the Cord Front Drive but now universally known as the L-29 (its internal project number.) Fashionably related to successful front drive race cars from Miller (a consultant on the design), the front engine, transmission and differential dropped the Cord's frame close to the ground where it complemented dramatic low-slung body styling, arguably the most beautiful automobiles of the late Twenties. This Cabriolet epitomizes the appeal of these gorgeous cars. Restored some years ago, it is still eye candy with six chrome wire wheels, new Firestone wide whitewall tires and dual sidemounted spares with mirrors. Liveried in a clay red (fans of Frank Lloyd Wright, a Cord owner, might call it Cherokee Red) with a dark maroon accent and coachline with maroon leather, carpets and a black cloth top, it has a rumble seat, rear-mounted luggage trunk and the golf bag door favored by late Twenties swells. Its restoration is correct and done with high quality materials and workmanship that today look no more than a couple years old. Simple, pure and tastefully devoid of accessories and gew gaws, it accurately and eloquently expresses the essence of Cord's Front Drive L-29 design.
