Future generations of car enthusiasts will look back at the 1990's and wonder at the extraordinary GT cars which appeared and at the revival of exciting and competitive GT-racing. They will surely agree that it was a Golden Age for both sport and engineering.

We are too close to see the whole picture clearly. It will take time before individual achievements are seen in sharp focus but when they are the Jaguar XJ220 will be at the forefront of discussion. Svelte and sensuous, the XJ220 is part of Jaguar's tradition of combining grace with aerodynamic efficiency in a way which no other maker has managed to do.

The XJ220 was produced in collaboration with Tom Walkinshaw Racing as Jaguar Sport between 1992 and 1994. It held the record for the highest top speed of a production car of 217 mph.

The XJ220 entered production in 1992 in a purpose built factory at Bloxham near Oxford, and the first cars were delivered to customers in July. Original customers included Elton John and the Sultan of Brunei. With a total of only 281 cars made it remains a sought-after collectible supercar.

This car, J222 MPH, was the 195th car produced out of the total 281 units. The car has only covered 2,900 miles from new and as you would expect is in excellent condition all round. The car comes complete with the original press launch pack, sales brochure, sales contract and service wallet with all related books plus original tool kit, first aid kit, fire extinguisher and even a gold plated presentation model. The car is fitted with the desirable after-market options of servo-assisted brakes and sports exhaust with an invoice from Don Law totalling £7,500. Finished in the desirable and increasingly hard to find silver with grey leather interior, the car is supplied with a V5 certificate, registration number 'R1KES' on a retention certificate and J222 MPH as fitted to the car. This is perhaps one of the finest examples of this undervalued supercar, with increasing interest in XJ220s values are now pushing skywards.
