Girardo & Co., the internationally renowned classic car dealership and brokerage, is strengthening its position in the Italian market with the opening of a new showroom in Bergamo, Italy, a short distance from Milan. Girardo & Co Italy is the company’s first expansion into mainland Europe since opening its London showroom in the UK in May 2016.

Max Girardo started the business after building a global reputation as the European managing director and head auctioneer of RM Sotheby’s auction house. In the three years that the company has been trading, it has established itself as one of the most highly regarded businesses in the prestige classic car market, having brokered sales for some of the world’s finest cars.

Girardo & Co is undoubtedly one of the leading suppliers of blue-chip classics into Italy, having established a significant customer base in the market. Max Girardo said: “It was the next logical step to open a branch in Italy in order to better serve a growing Italian clientele”. The Girardo & Co team is also very involved managing important restorations for international clients and this new expansion will certainly facilitate this.

The Girardo & Co. team has a wealth of experience which enables the company to deal in the finest pre- and post-war cars, with a particular specialisation in sports and competition cars. Notable sales to date include a 1964 Ferrari 250 LM, 1970 Ferrari 512 S, 1956 Maserati 200 SI and a pair of McLaren F1’s to name but a few.

Daniele Turrisi, who will manage the Italian department, is a well-known face in the Italian classic car scene with over thirty years of experience in the business. He brings a wealth of knowledge to Girardo & Co., as the company launches what is only the first stage in a strategic expansion program.

Max Girardo said: “This is a significant moment for Girardo & Co. as we move our operation beyond the shores of the UK. I have strong personal links to Italy and a very particular love of Italian machinery, so the launch of Girardo & Co. Italy is the next logical step for our business. I have known and worked with Daniele for 25 years, and there is nobody I’d rather be partnering with in this venture. In fact, nearly 20 years ago he was one of my first clients in the early days of my auction career! This is the start of something very exciting.”

The Italian showroom will be officially launching on May 14th. Cars available for viewing at the new showroom will include a 1995 Bugatti EB110 SS, one of only 30 built, and offered in Concours condition; an iconic 1983 Lancia 037 Group B rally car, a car with extensive and well-documented competition history, originally competing with the famed Jolly Club racing team, a 1950 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Super Sport by Touring and a 1957 Alfa Romeo 1900 C Super Sprint Cabriolet by Touring, as well as some recently sold cars such as the Maserati 200 SI.

Girardo & Co. Italy will be hosting an official launch party at its Bergamo showroom on 14th May on the eve of the 1000 Miglia.
