While rarely have we seen such a rainy spring in Italy, hopes are high for a weather much more simpatico to the season, or else wet tyres will bloom.

The 2019 Modena Cento Ore, kicking-off from Rimini June 4, includes 105 registered teams from 22 nations, among which some represented for the first time such as China, Qatar, and Portugal. Among its participants the race also includes 40 women for a positively electrifying 19% on the “pink quote”. Furthermore, within the Competition/Regularity subdivision, team registrations saw a 40% increase in the Regularity section. Among the 24 makes, Porsche is the most represented with 27 cars; followed by Ferrari with 18, 12 Jaguars, and 11 Alfa Romeo. The oldest classic registered is the 1950 Jaguar XK 120 OTS from team Francois Pourcher / Simon Le Bon, racing in the Regularity section; while team John Dennehy / Paul Halford’s 1986 Aston Martin V8 Zagato is the most recent.

This edition of the Modena Cento Ore will be hosted by four prestigious circuits: Imola, Misano, Modena, and Mugello where for the first time in the event’s history the race will run overnight June 5, for a brand new thrilling experience. The 2019 edition includes 11 Special Stages on closed traffic roads, 3 GPs, and a new Super Special Stage in the Competition section, and 11 media and 12 stopwatch tests planned for the Regularity, all totalling 1065 kilometers scheduled in 4 driving days. This year features a noteworthy line-up of registered participants as well as an impressive quality of cars, some with an extremely rich history of successes and official car. Further details to be released during the days of races.

As a sneak preview, we’d like to highlight car number 39, 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 RSR, in the Competition section, featuring as co-pilot none other than two time rally World Champion, Christian Geistdorfer (1980, 1982 with Walter Rohrl), and four time winner of the Monte Carlo Rally (1980 Fiat 131 Abarth, 1982 Opel Ascona 400, 1983 Lancia Rally 037, 1984 Audi Quattro A2).

The 2019 route

The route runs east to west across Italy through a series of spectacular laps, visible to spectators in delightful, postcard-worthy views. The magnificent cars are scheduled for exposition on June 4 in Parco Fellini, Rimini.

The next day, Wednesday June 5, they’ll be running through San Marino, the Cronoscalata dello Spino, Bibbiena and Anghiari, finally reaching Arezzo where they’ll align in Piazza Grande. Passing through Chiusi della Verna and the Foreste Casentinesi National Park, they will then reach the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli where starting at 19:30 they’ll face each other on a spectacular nocturnal track race.

The Modena Cento Ore enjoys the support and participation of over 600 people among staff, sport personnel, police, photographers, and timekeepers.

In a world ever more aware of emissions, it is with pride and pleasure that the Modena Cento Ore has once again been confirmed as the only zero emissions event in the industry, thanks to the spontaneous adoption of the CarbonZero protocol, which requires planting of dozens of new trees in the Tuscan Emilian apennine.

The event’s uniqueness is emphasized also thanks to a partnership with exclusive brands such as RM-Sotheby’s, world class auction house; Blackfin, creator of exclusive design sunglasses for the teams; Brose, excellence in mechatronic industry; Christophe Claret; I Greppi; Straight Eight Logistics, and Brandoli.
