Melbourne, April 2017 – A gracious 1921 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost, which came to Australia on the SS Karamea on 22nd October 1921 from London to Dalgety of Melbourne is a highlight in this exciting auction. An extraordinary motor car with a continuous provenance now fitted with a body by Bradbury of Sydney. EST: AU$ 320,000-350,000.

For the Chevrolet enthusiast, there are 2 striking examples on offer: a 1958 Corvette C1 in Panama yellow highly modified with C4 upgrades making a very exciting and usable weekend cruiser. EST: AU$ 100,000-­130,000. Also featuring is an Uber cool 1959 El Camino Ute. Following the success of the Ford Ranchero and somewhat on their toes by its luxurious status as a pick -up, Chevrolet retaliated with the El Camino. Not only was this utility the coolest thing America had seen but it was also purportedly the fastest utility in the world! This stunning black example is a multiple concourse award winner. British marques includes the 1948 HRG Bristol Prototype Historic 2-Litre Sports Racing Car brought to the market for the first time. This rare Bristol powered HRG was an experimental chassis apparently built in 1948/49 specifically for the 2-litre engine. This very same experimental chassis WB50 eventually found its way to a farm shed in NSW where it rested for 40 years. EST: AU$ 95,000-125,000.

Another highlight being a 1967 Lotus Elan Plus Two, held in current owner ship for 48 years. The early Lotus cars were often aimed at racing privateers and this car was originally sold to Australian Grand Prix driver, Reg Hunt. It has 61,000 miles and carries the mysterious “Black Badge”. EST AU$ 40,000-60,000.

Desirable British motorcycles include a fully restored 1930/31 AJS R7 held in the single ownership of a lady for 49 years. It offers a connoisseur of the genuine vintage AJS racing era a rare opportunity to acquire one of the last R7s built, also believed to be possibly the only one of its kind in the region. EST: AU$ 28,000-32,000.

Rare to be seen together in the one sale, the pre-war Grand Daddy AJS R7 as it is affectionately called, is superbly complimented by a 1953 AJS 7R Boy Racer. EST AU$ 30,000-40,000. These gorgeous 350cc bikes are further complimented by a 1932 Velocette KTT 350cc Mk IV. This fine example of the Velocette KTT Mk IV, the exact bike being listed on page 187 of Velocette ‘Technical Excellence Exemplified”, by Ivan Rhodes, was built in December, 1932. The Velocette KTT Mk IV is one of a mere 148 built. EST: $34,000-38,000.

Of high interest to motorcycle collectors is a 1918 Indian Powerplus 61 CI Model N held in single ownership for over 50 years. Made famous by Cannonball Baker who established a world record in 1916 in Australia when he covered 1,027 miles in 24 hours on a Powerplus as well as the first women to travel coast to coast across America were sisters Augusta and Adeline Van Buren, both riding a Powerplus. This absolute treasure is believed to have been held in only 2 ownerships in its 99 years. EST AU$ 30,000-40,000.

An Australian delivered 1965 Mercedes-Benz 220 SE coupe which has the rare 4 bucket seats configuration and believed one of only 3 of these examples known to have been imported new into Australia and one of only 214 220SEb coupes believed ever imported by Mercedes-Benz Australia presents an excellent opportunity to acquire a German built classic. EST AU$ 60,000-70,000. Also on offer is a 1967 Mercedes-Benz 250SE Coupe EST AU$ 32,000-38,000. The German story continues with a collectible low mileage 2003 BMW M3 Coupe E46 finished in Titansilber Metallic Silver with a red interior with an estimate of AU$ 27,000-33,000. This M3 forms part of the Collection of the Late Geoff Deacon which comprises of Motorsport books and programmes. Motorsport was a life-long passion for Geoff Deacon and his enthusiasm for motoring literature and autographs grew in to one of the largest private collections in Australia. It encompasses motorsport both nationally and internationally with an emphasis on Formula 1, Touring cars, Ayrton Senna and Ferrari. Geoff’s passion for Motorsport never waned even during his long battle with cancer which he lost in 2016.
