The production period of the Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spyder started in 1957 and ended early 1960, in that time frame 50 Spyders were built. The design was by Scaglietti and was close to "TdF" Berlinetta, it was available in street version in steel or as competition version in alloy, were all ""TdF" were alloy cars for Competition. The majority were the more attractive looking covered headlight version and all were built by Scaglietti.
The early cars had a 3.0 litre 128C type engine delivering 220bhp at 7.000 rpm, the later once had 128D type engines and 508D type chassis. From 1497GT all Spyders received disc brakes. Some of the late competition versions received a engine of type 168 which was used in the SWB Version, which delivered in a range 230 bhp to 282 bhp. Also chassis type 508F was used at least on one car normally used for the 250 PF Cabriolet S II and the PF Coupe.
