March 1966 Ferrari presented one of the rarest Spyders at the Geneva Motor Show, in a 24 month period just 14 cars were assembled. Only the 275 GTB/4 N.A.R.T. Spyder is rarer with just 10 cars produced.

The leather cabin provided a 2+2 seating, large doors allowed easy access to the rear seats. The 365 was powered by a 4.4 litre V12 engine producing 320 hp.

The prototype displayed the Geneva Show "8347" was built on a 330 GT 2+2 chassis type 571, all other cars used chassis type 598.

9127 the 2nd one was finalized 1966 August 30th with light blue metallic exterior and ivory trim.

9447 was displayed at the 1967 Torino Motor Show, it was finished in Rosso chiaro and tan interior, since the last 30 years it is with the same owner and displayed at the Crawford Museum, in Cleveland, Ohio.

9615 was finished 1967 October 13th silver with black trim, it was sold to Rafael Leonidas Trujillo Martinez son of the ex-dictator of Dominican Republic. In 1967 Trujillo had an accident (side impact) with the California killing his femal passenger. On December 17, 1969 Trujillo crashed (head on collision) with a 330 GT 2+2 in the Jaguar driven by the Dutchess of Albuquerque killing the other driver, he was badly injured and eventually died from complications developing pneumonia. Some time later the wreckage was sold to the UK and he had a not very good repair job carried out on it, which was rectified by Mototechnique some years ago when owned by Robert Beecham.

9631 was finished 1967 February 13th and displayed at the Geneva Salon in March. In 1971 it was offered with 56.000 miles for $8.500. In March 1976 the car was hit in the rear, pushing it into the front of the carport, which damaged the front end, as well. Then the carport roof collapsed on the car. Whoops! Ferrari enthusiast Greg Garrison bought the damaged car and had it restored at the factory and Pininfarina. in 2007 Gooding & Co. auctioned the 365 California in Pebble Beach for $825.000.

9801 was completed 1967 March 22nd and displayed at the New York Car Show. In 1985 it was offered by Bern's Oldtimer Garage for Sfr. 200,000 and sold to Bob Lee and is until today a part of his impressive collection.

9849 was completed 1967 April 4th finished white and black. May 2007 RM sold the California in the Leggenda e Passione Maranello Auction for €728,000. 

9889 was completed 1967 April 11th and sold to Carla Toffolini, the Sacchi family kept the car in Santa Margherita Ligure for vacation enjoyment. after more than 30 years of ownership, still with original paint and leather the car was sold for $410,000. in 2003 it was offered for $650.000 and sold by Christie's. 

9935 was completed 1967 April 11th finished red with white softtop.

9985 was completed 1967 May 26th finished in Blu Sera and beige trim, RHD. It was sold to UK via Maranello Concessionaires. In 1986 it was sold for PDS 65.000

10077 was completed 1967 May 29th finished Rosso Rubino and tan and is displayed at the displayed at Merle Norman Classic Beauty Collection, San Sylmar, CA, USA.

10155 was completed 1967 June 23 finished white with black. 1991 seen at a scrap yard in New York, USA, since disappeared.

10327 was completed 1967 July 27th finished Rosso Chiaro and Ivory. In 2005 the California did not sell  at RM's Vintage Motor Cars in Arizona auction at a high bid of $550,000. In 2007 Gooding & Co. sold the car at the Pebble Beach Auction for $1.375mio. 

10369 was completed late 1967 finished in Metallic Blu and beige in RHD configuration and was sold to London's property magnate Harry Hyams, it was severely damaged in an accident with an Army truck. In 1970 it was send to Pininfarina to be restored.
