November 2, 2019 - The fourth annual Bal Harbour Shops Collector’s Weekend took place over the weekend of November 1-3 at the luxury brand mall, Bal Harbour Shops on Bal Harbour Island just north of Miami Beach.

The low-key, non-judged event which encompasses collectible cars on display in the main parking area along with activations with Bal Harbour Shops boutique brands serving as a catalyst to begin the holiday shopping season in South Florida.

Among the fifty cars on display included a ten-car selection from Miami collectible exotic dealer Curated as well as an entry from Motorcar Gallery and Paganis from Prestige Imports with the rest filled by local enthusiasts and collectors who brought their cars out.  Curated brought out an eclectic selection headed by a gorgeous silver Bugatti EB110 GT, Jaguar XJ220, Lamborghini Miura S, Murcielago, Countach LP400, Countach 5000QV and a few Ferraris including an Enzo and 275 GTB to name a few.

The event featured appearances by none other than three-time Indy 500 winner Helio Castroneves who was promoting Miami’s new Concours Club.  Helio was joined by five-time Indy Car and 2008 Indy 500 Champion Scott Dixon representing the Richard Mille watch brand.  Other celebrity sightings included Miami Heat legend Alonzo Mouring and Miami resident Eddie Irvine whom were spotted checking out the array of cars on display in the main parking area of Bal Harbour Shops.

Participants and spectators were treated to a great day with no rain but rather on the hot side as the South Florida summer has stretched into early November with unseasonable like temperatures hovering near 90ºF and equally high humidity for the Saturday event where the theme of the day was shade!

Honored car status was filled by the brilliant 2019 Porsche 911 RSR resplendent in Coca-Cola livery courtesy of Chopard.  The car was fresh from the season finale event at Petite Le Mans where the team secured IMSA WeatherTech GTLM titles including Manufacturer, Driver and Team.  During the 2019 season, the #911 car was driven by Patrick Pilet, Nick Tandy and Frédéric Makowiecki.

Porsche ran different liveries through the 2019 season including the iconic white, blue and red Brumos colors.  The beautiful Coca-Cola livery was reminiscent of the late 1970s when then 12 Hours of Sebring promoter Charles Mendez landed the iconic soft drink brand as the title sponsor for the legendary race but his three car Porsche 935 team as well coordinating with Florida Coca-Cola bottlers.

The livery was best known however as being associated with the Bob Akin owned Porsches (935s through 962s) through the late 1980s.  The livery was most notable for  winning overall at Sebring in 1986 with Akin, Hans Stuck and the late Jo Gartner driving.

The Bal Harbour Shops Collectors Weekend tradition kicks off the South Florida motoring season with style and culminates with the Miami Concours Presented by Chopard February 14-16, 2020.
