Book on "The GTA" to be Published by ASI

GTA – the three-letter acronym for Gran Turismo Alleggerita – are deeply engrained in the memory of all automotive racing fans.

The miracles performed by these unique machines of the “Casa del Biscione” are already extensively covered. A new book available at the ASI book store aims to document some lesser-known parts of the story behind Alfa Romeo’s GTA: the project, the engineering and its technical evolution that ultimately enabled the incredible accomplishments that are unique in the history of motors sports.

Introduced at the 38th Automotoretrò Show in Turin earlier this month, the bi-lingual reference is co-authored by Vladimir Pajevic, an enthusiast of the Alfa Romeo brand and gentleman-driver at the time, and Italian champion Gian Luigi Picchi, who had won the 1972 European Touring Car Championship in a GTA. Despite the technical nature of the content, the text is written in plain language so that even casual readers can enjoy Gian Luigi Picchi’s first-hand accounts of piloting the GTA, while “gearheads” will want to delve into the technical data presented.
